When I went through immigration, the local officer asked all the typical questions, including where I was staying. When I mentioned I was staying in Canggu, his eyes brightened, and he quickly replied, “Ahh, you’re staying in Canggu for the surf?!”. I replied, “Nah, I’m just here for the brunch”. He laughed, thinking I was joking. I certainly wasn’t; I mean, the brunch in Canggu is spectacular, not just because of the reasonable pricing. Canggu is a brunch lover’s wet dream. They have quality eats, cute aesthetic cafes and fast Wi-Fi for digital nomads. Whenever I’m in Canggu, brunch is a part of my daily ritual. So here are my tried and tested best cafes in Canggu.

Rise and Shine Cafe

Rise and Shine Café is a well-known brunch spot in Canggu, for a good reason. The portions are enormous, and the food is delicious! Be prepared to wait for a seat as they are a super popular cafe and have limited seating. For only 100k Indonesian Rupiah ($7 USD), I ate a literal mountain of breakfast bruschetta and washed it down with an iced latte. The vibe of the café was friendly, filled with Canggu ex-pats catching up with friends and digital nomads working on their laptops.

Little Home Cafe

If you want to support a smaller, local business, then Little Home Café is for you. Tucked away on a side street in the Northern part of Canggu, Little Home Café is a quiet spot with delicious brunch options. I highly recommend the cinnamon banana pancakes. I got pancakes with a cappuccino for 50k Indonesian Rupiah ($3.50 USD) as a part of one of their brunch packages. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and fast Wi-Fi for digital nomads.

Avocado Factory

As the name suggests, this cafe is hugely avocado-based. Avocado Factory is located just off the main road with gorgeous views of rice paddies nearby. I opted for eggs benedict (which came with a side of avocado shaped into a rose, of course) and an iced latte which cost 120k Indonesian Rupiah ($8.40 USD). They have both upstairs and downstairs seating, but I strongly recommend grabbing a table upstairs for the views. This café is a short 10-minute walk or 2-minute scooter ride to Echo Beach, so it’s a convenient stop on your way for a swim.

Crate Cafe

Crate Café is extremely well-known as one of the best cafes in Canggu. There are large indoor and outdoor seating areas, which is well-needed as it is a popular spot. I preferred to sit out back overlooking the rice paddies, as it can get quite loud inside. For 100k Indonesian Rupiah ($7 USD), I got a large breakfast bruschetta, an iced latte, and a mountain of ice, foam, and coffee. The Wi-Fi was not great here, so I would not recommend it for digital nomads.

Common Cafe

Hands down one of the best cafes in Canggu! The staff here are so friendly, greeting everyone with a giant smile as they enter, and the food here is fantastic. I opted for the breakfast burrito and an iced latte, which I will dream about the next time I’m starving on a long layover, being too stingy to buy shitty airport food. The Wi-Fi was high speed, but it was also great for people watching as it’s located on the main road in Canggu. Their breakfast burrito and iced latte will set you back around 120k Indonesian Rupiah ($8.40 USD).
