Language

The main language spoken is Thai (which is similar to Lao). The Thai Language is a tonal with its own written alphabet. English is a widely spoken second language, with over 50% of the population speaking it.

Thailand has a population of over 70 million, with only 50% of the population living in urban areas (cities).

Regions

Thailand can be broken up into a few regions:

Peninsula Thailand (Koh Samui, Koh Tao, and Koh Phangan), the West Coast of Thailand (Phuket, Phi Phi Island, Krabi and Khao Sok), Northern Thailand (Pai, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai) and Central Thailand (Bangkok, Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi).

Weather

Thailand overall has a tropical climate but with three regions with distinct weather climates. The North of Thailand is hot year-round but can get chilly at night during winter (Dec-Feb). Peninsula Thailand experiences the rainy season from October to December. The West Coast of Thailand experiences the rainy season from June to October.
